Switched!!

Apparently Spokane is not a growing metropolis, because Acadia's Kindergarten had low enrollment this year. So they consolidated the two afternoon classes and moved a few students to Morning. The school asked for volunteers, and I jumped on the wagon to have Acadia moved to the morning class. And today she started in the mornings. It was wonderful for me, but she was a little hesitant.

But this is my question/ annoyance and I guess I just want validation to my feelings (Brad's gone for a few days and I need a listening ear). We have been in school for almost 3 weeks. The kids are settled, they know their teachers, and have new friends. Why didn't the school take care of this earlier??? They knew who was signed up to start couldn't they have made adjustments in the first few days? Then when they did make the change I didn't even know about it until the afternoon of day she was suppose to have been in the morning class! All I can say is I am glad that Acadia is pretty easy going.

Just one more funny story about walking to school.

My kids do not like walking to school. Little do they know that right now is the nice time to walk. And come winter then they may have something to whine about. So every day we have this conversation with Acadia.

Mom: Hurry and eat we have to leave in 5 minutes to get to school

Acadia: Well Mom, you know you don't have to hurry us and just drive us to school.

Mom: Acadia it is nice outside and we are walking. Go get your shoes on.

That is a typical conversation, before I load up Kam and Trey in the stroller and we walk with
Acadia to school. But today I got this conversation from Trey who doesn't walk at all.

Mom: Trey lets go get Acadia from school

Trey: Okay I'll go get in the car

Mom: No we are walking to get her; go hop in the stroller

Trey: (crying and throwing a fit) But I don't want to walk I'm too tired!

Too tired?!? Who is riding and who is walking pushing two kids up the hill buddy? Needless to say I wasn't overly sympathetic with him. We walked to school.

Thanks for listening to me!

That is something I have recently learned as well-- school do not have it together! Glad she didn't mind the switch.

It is good she is easy going. When I taught in Utah, things like that didn't really happen, but in Vegas they happened all the time. Too bad it happened there too. I always wondered about that...cant the see from kindergarten registration about how many kids they will have? Just add a few for those move ins and you have a pretty good number right?

Sorry about the trouble with the school, that does not sound fun at all and I am glad I have a few years before that.
I am glad that you walk them to school, I walked to school even in the snow in Idaho, (up hill both ways :)

Ah, poor Treyson!!!! :) In the winter, you could pull them to school on a sled!

Combining classes sounds typical (but totally annoying). We had "Count Day" here in Vegas about2-3 weeks into school. If enrollment was low, then they would combine classes. They definitely should have given you more info! I'm glad Acadia went with the flow!!!!

That would bug me too about them changing so late. I've tried riding my bike with the trailer for Sam's school but Ben cries the whole time because he hates his helmet! Oh well! :)

trey is so funny! hahhaha tell Trey and Acadia that I miss tons. then tell them a long story about how you had to walk through the snow to school when you were a kid and it was uphill- both ways! That will teach her...

By the way, when Brad gets back, ask him this from me... Theoretically, what would allow better gas millage: A higher flow muffler or a high flow cat converter? (don't worry they don't do emissions testing here so neither are illegal)

Thanks- Nick

I'm glad she got switched to morning for you - I remember something about having to wait for 'count day' the official day - even the schools don't know if they loose teachers or not until then. (they can of course guess- but have to wait for the 'offical' word.) got to love buracracy (sp?)

You always have the cutest stories:) I love that your kid's faces beam for their dad:) That sweet! School is crazy, don't you think? They just made it this year at my kids school $350.00 for each sport they want to participate in!! Who can at that price. They have already cancelled most sports for this year at our school!

I walked Keegan to school last year with the girls in the stroller and all they did was complain, especially in the winter.
We now bought the 2nd vehicle and are driving to school and all I hear is, "why can't we walk?".
Good luck walking to school in the winter, it's not always a blast but it is good exercise!
