Seattle

We spent our last weekend of Summer, Labor Day weekend out of town. We (mostly me) have been aching to get out and see some place new. Brad was able to get some vacation time and we headed to Seattle.  We really didn't have plans as to what we were going to do, in fact until the night before we didn't even have anywhere to stay (really it shouldn't be that surprising since most of our trips seem to be on whims) But thanks to priceline we got an awesome Residence Inn at at great price, so the trip was on.

We stopped at Snoqualamie Falls on our way there.  It was so pretty, and a great place to get out, eat a picnic lunch and stretch your legs.

Pikes place Market, it was closed when we first went so we got a not too crowded photo op.  Lucky for us the Rocky Mountain Chocolate factory was still open.  Ice cream, chocolate cover ding dongs, and Rocky Road carmel apples.... YUMMY!

The three oldest took the hide a bed, they slept so well.

Seattle Aquarium.  It was fun to see all the fish (although next time
we would skip this and head to the zoo).

Kam wasn't too sure of touching anything in the tide pools, she just wanted me to hold her.

 Brad and Bens

Acadia and Trey couldn't get enough of touching all the creatures. They really liked the plants that suctioned on to your fingers.

We went to the Science Center. That is one place we would go back to over and over again.

Brad explaining how a gears work to Trey

Acadia rocking it out in the music room

 The butterfly gardens

The two story bike.  Both Brad and I went on this bike.  It was a bit unnerving to ride a round a skinny metal bar.

 Dinosaur statues

Kids built a fort in our hotel room

We went on a hike to a beach.  The beach was a bit rocky, and not at all sandy but we still enjoyed playing around the water.  We were suppose to find tide pools, but low tide was at 4 am.  Come on we were on vacation!

I just think his face is too funny.  Toothless grins are the best.

There was lots of drift wood to explore.

 And beautiful a sunset.

On our way back we went the scenic way home. Though Leavenworth.   It was very pretty. We were going to stop and see what Leavenworth had to offer, but it was so busy.  I swear it seemed even busier than Seattle. So we at a quick lunch and headed on our way. Until we found this little park in a tiny town.  It a merry-go -round.  It was fun to spend a little bit playing with the kids.

We also picked blackberries, swam, and packed our weekend full.  It was a nice way to finish out the summer.

You sound like me, I am always telling Steve we need to get out and explore somewhere new, "like when we were in Med School". Those were still the days;) We should meet half way between your place and my place and camp or get a hotel. That would be so much fun! Steve has most weekends off now and holidays, let's plan something!

So fun! I love how most of your vacations are with just you, Brad and the kids...most of ours involve grandparents, aunts uncles, etc. but I just love how much time you guys always spend together- just awesome!
Your kids are all so adorable- and growing!
