No Butts About It!

So in our house, "butt" is a bad word. One that gets you in trouble. So when Trey started saying "butt" and laughing hysterically he got some serious timeout. And he has learned pretty quickly that butt is not a nice thing to call your sister. But now he is overly sensitive about it, and anytime he hears the word but he starts giggling and then proceeds to tell me that they said a bad word. Here was today's scenarios:

My kids were watching Charlie and Lola on TV

Charlie: "Lola, let's choose a different book"

Lola: "BUT, Charlie Beetles, Bugs and Butterflies is my favorite book!"

Treyson: Ha Ha Ha Ha Mom she just said butt Ha ha ha!

OR
while reading his dinosaur book:

"Pachycephalosaurus begins BUTTing heads with other males..."

Trey: Mom, (giggling) they said butt, why can they say butt?

OR

when disciplining him

Mom: "You can be good and get rewarded, BUT if you aren't good ...

Trey: Mom you said butt! (totally breaking into hysterics and completely forgetting the whole reason he is in time out.)

OR

while reading scriptures

2 Nephi 9 18
But behold the righteous...

Trey: ( I bet you can't guess what he is going to say) Mom! See the scriptures even say BUTT!

So who do I get upset with my 4 year old who's new favorite word is butt or with the English language who decided that it can be used in two totally different ways?

That's so funny! I can totally relate. Lucas always says that about the word "Lord" because Mater says, "Oh, Lordy" or something. So I told him we don't say that...but then he says, "What about Lord Vader?" or "What about the song Seek the Lord Early?" Ah, so tricky. Stinkery kids!!!! Lucas loves bad words too. :)
