The Allegory

Who can tell the power of a single match?

In one setting, it is life-saving, bringing warmth light and happiness to all those within its reach.

In another, its effects can be devastatingly cruel, raging wildly onward, taking away that which is not its own.

Don't worry! It's only a match after all, right?

I guess it's just like mom always told us, "If you play around with matches you're eventually going to get burnt." It's just that no one ever listens to what mothers have to say, and even if we accidentally did, we confidently believe that what they are talking about could never apply to us.

Sometimes life teaches us lessons that we never asked to learn. Someday looking back we will be better off, and much wiser because of it. We have certainly learned our lesson about matches this last week, (Remember this is an allegory, nothing was really burned, no one physically hurt and no property damaged) but it has been a humbling, and eye-opening learning experience.

As in any time of trials there are those who are willing to lend a hand, and to all of you we are very thankful!

Now we are excited for opportunities ahead, and we are looking forward to finding out what the future might hold in store for us. Next time you come face to face with a match of your own, just remember to use it wisely, for each one holds the power to either comfort, or consume.

Danielle, sometimes I think you are one of the wisest people I know. Great allegory, I'm excited to see where you all travel off to as well - (and wouldn't mind if any of you guys stuck around here! :)

Well guys I would love to be able to take credit for this post but... I can't. It was all Brad. Yeah maybe he should go into writing instead of medicine. I am very lucky to have Brad as a husband. I count my blessings everyday.

And to all of you that have lent a hand of support and help... THANK YOU. Your words of encouragement, prayers, and faith has made this easier for us. We love you all!

What a great way to look at things! I'm with Rebecca, I don't mind if anyone sticks around. I'll be sad lose my visiting teacher, who is a great friend and takes such good care of me.
