After Brad helped to change the fuel pump he put the wires in for new headlights (but ended up not connecting them) then we all jumped in the jeep and headed to Big Dune. Granted it was about 2 hours later than we expected, so by the time we got there Bennet & Becka had been there for about 3 hours already and it was getting dark. Granted it didn't help that we kind of took the wrong turn and ended up on our very own Baja 1000 race. It was a dirt road with all sorts of bumps, jumps, and even silt. It was really fun. Acadia & Trey kept saying : "Dad Go Faster--Wheeeeeeee!" While I was more calm than previous rides, I was still gripping the ceiling handle. This made Brad feel a bit better that we couldn't make it to the real Baja 1000 this weekend. Anyway after our detour we made it to the sand.
The sun set was beautiful, and the sand was soft, and the dunes were huge. The kids played for the few minutes of day light that was left then we started a fire and cooked hotdogs. It was really enjoyable. One I am sure we will repeat. Next time we are going to bring sleds to slide down the hills.... We shall see. So we lasted about 4 hours then our fire died out and we were cold so we headed home. We were very smoky and tired but we sure had fun.
