Peru -- better late than never

I thought I might write a bit about our trip to Peru, in May. It was a while back but I didn't get my pictures up and running until now. I am only a bit behind. Brad and I went to Peru with a group of our friends. Brad, Steve, Bennett, and Jake went to Peru for the month of May to do a medical rotation. It was a great experience for them. They were in the middle of the rain forest, amazon jungle. It definitely a different experience for them.
Then the last week a couple of the wives decided that we need to go and retrieve our hubbies. Sharlene and I flew out and we got to spend a week in Peru with the guys. It was so amazing. We went to the mountain area instead of the rain forest area, but is was just as beautiful. We got to look at a whole bunch of Incan ruins and hike all over. The most impressive was Machu Picchu. I think I was so impressive because it was all intact. It was missed by the Spanish-- and not demolished. We got to hike up a mountain that was right next to Machu Picchu-- so we go the most amazing view. It is so green there. The people there are so kind and humble- It is amazing to me to see them just working all day long in their fields, by hand none the less just to get what they need to survive. I was once again amazed by the bounty of the United States. Brad and I definitely enjoyed being on our own with out the kids. Thanks to Grandmas and Grandpas. We love to travel and see new things!

This is a view of Machu Pichu- the mountain behind is the one that we hiked.

This is also Machu Pichu-- It is truly amazing. It is one of those things that amazes me as to how they could have built it-- let alone on top of a mountain with sheer cliffs around it.

This is the cathedral that the Spanish built in Cuzco-- It is huge! The Spanish took the stones from an Incan temple near buy to build it.

Sacawywaman, this was where they took the stone to build the church-- Look at how big the stones were-- unbelievable!

Pisac, a city today in Peru-- they have rock everywhere-- I thought oh how quaint it is so pretty, but on our way down we saw kids peeing in the ditch and a man carving a lamb in the water.-- That made it a bit less picturesque.

Brad and I sitting on a Incan couch-- not quite as comfortable but doable!
